The Empty Body: Exploring the Practice of Meditating With the Body

A central teaching in the Buddhist tradition, emptiness reminds us that all experience is empty of what we think. There is experience and our ideas about experience. One may (or may not) approximate the other, but they are not the same. Nowhere is this truth more apparent than in the body, where a deliberate placing of attention reveals the soma is not an idea - not at all.

This all-level, all-tradition workshop will continue our exploration of the ‘Meditating with the Body’ curriculum - leading us further into the subtlety, further into the emptiness of the body than ever before. Mixing guided meditation and group discussion, we will come into contact with the journey that waits within each of us. We will find ourselves engaging our lives more deeply and more appropriately than ever before.

Participants are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing, and to bring a blanket and mat to lay on. Should participants have a meditation cushion or bench, these are recommended - otherwise, chairs will be available.

Meal Breaks: We will break for 90 minutes each day for lunch. Please feel free to bring your own meal if you wish, or take a walk to one of the nearby restaurants in the area.
